This guide presents resources primarily for Villanova University School of Law students participating in a Journal, Moot Court, Trial Team and the Sports Negotiations team.

Summer 2024 Competition Registration Links

 

Watch the Journals + Competition Teams Info session held on April 14, 2024 and register for the summer competitions using the links below (see Write-On tab for Journals)

National Trial Team Tryouts:

  • 5-minute closing argument + Q&A
  • Grades are not considered
  • You can pick your timeline:
    • Timeline 1
      • Receive the case packet on April 28th
      • Tryout on May 11th or 12th in room 201
    • Timeline 2
      • Receive the case packet on May 10th
      • Tryout on May 24th or 25th in room 201

 

Information about Trial Team:

  • 2 credits just for being on the team (same as Journals and Moot Court)
  • One trial competition per semester
  • Automatically registered in Evidence and Trial Advocacy 
  • You are allowed to participate on a Journal or Moot Court AND Trial Team

2024 Moot Court Summer Competition

Registration closed on April 21st. Competition will open May 12th @ 9 AM and  writing period closes May 26th @ 11:59 PM. 

Oral arguments will take place June 8th and 9th.

All Villanova Law students have access to the tutorials and quizzes available through the LinkedIn Learning platform. Students can any number of the 15,000 courses on many different subjects including Microsoft Office and other tech skills, project management, entrepreneurship, video editing, data analysis and visualization 

Browse by topic or search for keywords in the search box at the top. There are courses on the basics of GDPR, Music Law, computer crimes, privacy laws, data breach notification laws and more. You can also view their learning paths to determine which courses might help you reach a specific goal or their collections of courses that focus on a particular issue.

Write.law Legal Technology and Soft Skills Development

Write.law has partnered with Westlaw to offer Westlaw subscribers three certification courses on Core Tech, Practice Tech and Legal Soft Skills. These interactive video lessons offer cheat sheets and quizzes to check your knowledge.
