Asian and Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA)

Mission:

Asian Pacific American Law Students Association is dedicated to Asian Pacific American legal scholarship and cultural awareness at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and the Greater Philadelphia area. The Asian Pacific American Law Students Association strives to bring cultural awareness to the student body at Villanova Law and to the broader legal community, representing a diverse group of people and advancing various interest of the Asian American community.

First Generation Lawyers Group

Mission:

The First Generation Lawyers Group’s main goal is to help students who do not come from legal families navigate the legal world starting before orientation and continuing through seeking employment and beyond graduation. Those who are the first in their families to attend law school, or complete undergraduate studies, are at an inherent disadvantage compared to peers whose parents or close relatives are attorneys who are already familiar with how the legal field works. The First Generation Lawyers Group provides an outlet for questions and discussions of issues facing first generation law students, possible mentorship with someone whose views and experiences coincide with their own, and an opportunity to share stories and celebrate one another’s success. 

Middle Eastern Law Students Association (MELSA)

Mission: 

The Middle Eastern Law Students Association (MELSA) at Villanova Law is committed to encouraging unity among a diverse student body and promoting an understanding of social, legal and professional issues in Middle Eastern and North African communities.

 

St. Thomas More Society

Mission: 

The Saint Thomas More Society dedicates itself to promoting the Catholic faith at Villanova Law School. We endeavor to build a sense of community among our members, fostering personal and group spirituality. Through Masses, lectures, retreats and informal social gatherings, we aim to help students incorporate their Catholic faith into their law school experience. Under the patronage of Saint Thomas More, patron saint of lawyers, we strive to support each other in the effort to live lives based on the Gospel and to work for harmony and goodwill throughout the legal community.

Black Law Students Association (BLSA)

Mission: 

The Villanova Law Black Law Students Association (BLSA) is an official chapter of the National Black Law Students Association that seeks to foster the profession of law among individuals of Black ancestry as well as other individuals who have an interest in legal issues relevant to the Black community. BLSA strives to meaningfully influence the legal community though various professional, social and community activities and services.

Jewish Law Student Association (JLSA)

Mission:  

The mission of JLSA is to provide a community and outlet for Jewish students at Villanova Law. Being Jewish at a Catholic university presents a unique set of challenges and experiences, and JLSA provides an outlet to discuss those issues as well as bonding opportunities for people with similar backgrounds.

 

Muslim Law Students Association (MLSA)

Mission: 

The mission of the Muslim Law Student Association is to promote unity, education, and empathy among the students of the association, but also the greater Villanova Law community. The association will stand to promote a deeper understanding of Islam, helping to dispel any stigmas or presumptions that may be present. The Muslim Law Student Association is all inclusive and available to all who seek to join or attend events. Aside from hoping to enrich the current student body at Villanova Law, the organization will also stand as a point of contact for any potential students who identify as Muslim that would like someone to speak with prior to enrolling to learn more about the school from someone similarly situated as them.

Women's Law Caucus (WLC)

Mission:  

WLC organizes and participates in programs and events to raise awareness about legal and non-legal issues that affect women and to create spaces for its members and the law school community to openly discuss them. WLC fosters community and mentorship among Villanova women and supports the initiatives of other underrepresented groups in the legal field. WLC welcomes any member of the law school community as a member of its organization.

 

Brehon Law Society

Mission: 

The Villanova Brehon Law Society seeks to connect its members with the larger Brehon Law Society chapter of Philadelphia and the national organization in order to celebrate Irish-American achievement in the law and to advance the Brehon Law Society's mission of pursuing justice and advancing human rights. Students of all ethnic backgrounds are welcome.

Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA)

Mission:  

The Latin American Law Student Association ("LALSA") aims to foster a vibrant and inclusive community that empowers Latin American law students and other individuals who demonstrate an interest in the Latin American community, to excel both personally and professionally. Through events, discussions, and collaborations, we are dedicated to cultivating an environment of cultural awareness, professionalism, and diversity within the legal landscape, while providing opportunities to celebrate and share Latin American culture at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and the greater community. 

OUTLaw

Mission:  

OUTLaw strives to promote LGbTQ+ visibility both on campus and in the broader legal field.  OUTLaw is dedicated to creating safe space for all LGBTQ+ persons, and provide a forum for issues of importance to the LGBTQ+ community.  OUTLaw seeks to build unity at Villanova Law by offering social, educational and professional development opportunities.

Villanova Non-Traditional Student Group (NTSG)

Mission:  

Our mission is to provide support, guidance, and community to students of Villanova who have arrived at law school through a non-traditional path. Our goal is to advise and assist with the stresses of balancing law school and the other responsibilities and demands of life. We add diversity in experience, opinions, understanding, work history and viewpoints to the Villanova Community.
