Mission:
The First Generation Lawyers Group’s main goal is to help students who do not come from legal families navigate the legal world starting before orientation and continuing through seeking employment and beyond graduation. Those who are the first in their families to attend law school, or complete undergraduate studies, are at an inherent disadvantage compared to peers whose parents or close relatives are attorneys who are already familiar with how the legal field works. The First Generation Lawyers Group provides an outlet for questions and discussions of issues facing first generation law students, possible mentorship with someone whose views and experiences coincide with their own, and an opportunity to share stories and celebrate one another’s success.
