The Office of University Information Technologies (UNIT) handles university-wide computing, information systems, and networking. Call the Law School Help Desk (x97700) with questions or problems. If the Law School Help Desk is busy, your call will be routed to the main campus Help Desk (x97777).
Villanova uses the Outlook email client and every University employee is given a Villanova email account (usually first.last@law.villanova.edu). Please check the VU account regularly. Official University correspondence will go to your University email address and it is the one that auto-populates when students type in your name.
Login credentials will be sent to you from our computer services department (UNIT) via email. You will be prompted to reset the password the first time you log in. These credentials will serve as your login for all University single-sign-on systems, including email, MyNova, Blackboard, Learn@Nova, and benefits enrollment.
The University uses Concur, aka NovaPay, to process expenses. You can find out more about NovaPay here. Please save your receipts and submit expenses in a timely manner.
Your faculty support assistant can help you submit expenses, but first you have to designate her as a delegate on your account profile. Instructions are linked below.
Things to Keep in Mind:
For breakfast, lunch, or dinner meetings with other faculty members or guests, the paying faulty member needs to submit the receipt plus a list of all the individuals who attended.
If you have access to more than one expense account, please stipulate which account the reimbursement is coming from (i.e. general law faculty budget or an expense account through one of the Centers).
For Honorariums, the host faculty member needs to fill-out completely the Honorarium Agreement attached below and supply the speaker's name and email to the faculty support assistant, who can then reach out to the speaker and get their profile started in PaymentWorks, our vendor onboarding system.
The Faculty Center, located on the second floor classroom wing, is a meeting space / lounge for faculty members. It contains a large meeting area with tables that can be configured in a variety of ways, and a small kitchenette that includes a refrigerator and microwave. The room is used for faculty meetings, workshops, and colloquia, and occasionally as a green room for symposium speakers. When the room is not reserved for an event, faculty are welcome to use it as a lounge.
Requests for research assistant hours should be submitted to the Associate Dean for Faculty Research and Development, Teri Ravenell. Research assistants are paid $15 per hour and may not work more than 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters and 35 hours in the Summer. The Career Strategy office can assist with finding potential candidates. When you have decided who to hire, send the name(s) to Cheryl Baro, who will contact your new research assistant(s) regarding the onboarding process. Students may not begin working until they have completed the hiring process with Human Resources. You will be notified when the student is approved to begin working.
All new faculty, including visiting professors, may receive Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg research accounts for scholarship and course preparation. To request access codes for these services and to discuss other databases and resources that may be useful for your work, please contact reference@law.villanova.edu.

The Villanova Institute for Teaching and Learning (VITAL) is a hub for innovative teaching and learning initiatives at the University and fosters academic excellence through its client-centered support of faculty as teacher-scholars. Through a range of programs and services, VITAL provides comprehensive support to Villanova faculty from all disciplines to work toward achieving excellence in student learning, effective teaching, and informative assessment.
New Law faculty are invited to attend the New Faculty Program offered by VITAL at the beginning of each semester. Below is the agenda for the most recent program.
Faculty are paid monthly, on the last workday of the month.
Direct Deposit is highly recommended. When you sign up, the Payroll office does a trial run the first time through, so your first payment will be a live paper check, which will be mailed to you. Assuming no issues with the trial, subsequent payments will go directly into your account.
You can view and print your pay stubs through MyNova via the “View My Pay Stub” tile.
A multi-function printer is located in the utility room on each faculty wing and in the Clinical Programs suite. Faculty are networked to the closest printer. The printers are serviced by an outside vendor, XSE, who has a dedicated technician for Villanova. Problems with the printer that require technical attention should be reported to their service center at 215-345-9155. It will be helpful to locate the serial number of the printer prior to calling for service.
Wifi is available throughout the Law School building. Members of the Villanova Law community should connect via the VU Mobile network option rather than VU Guest (which is only valid for 24 hours).
