Professor Leslie book co authored an article with Australian scholars examines the role of pro bono tax clinics, focusing on women in financial distress who cannot access professional tax advice. This research shows that 58% of financially distressed women seeking pro bono help also suffered from domestic and family violence (DFV). The authors call for more research on the relationship between tax problems, financial stress, and economic abuse, to help create programs supporting women experiencing these issues. The study also demonstrates the role of tax clinics in providing support for victim-survivors of DFV.
